Rangers place RHP Griffin on DL, recall LHP Claudio

DALLAS, TX - The Texas Rangers on Sunday placed RHP A.J. Griffin on thr 15-day disabled list with right shoulder stiffness.

Griffin left in the third inning of the Rangers' game on Saturday at Detroit with stiffness in his throwing shoulder. He allowed three runs and four hits, walking three and striking out two, and threw 53 pitches in the game before being pulled.

In a corresponding move, the Rangers recalled LHP Alex Claudio from Triple-A Round Rock.

Claudio was sent down on by tge Rangers on Saturday to make room for Drew Stubbs on the team's 25 man roster. Claudio could not be recalled for another ten days unless another pitcher was placed on the disabled list or another list.

DALLAS, TX - The Texas Rangers on Saturday signed OF Drew Stubbs to a big-league deal.

Stubbs spent Spring Training with the Rangers before opting out of his contract and signing with the Atlanra Braves. He was designated for assignment by Atlanta four days ago.

Stubbs was hitting .235 with a home run, 4 stolen bases, and 20 strikeouts in 38 at-bats this year for the Braves. With the Rangers last year, Stubbs hit just .095, logging three total bases in 26 plate appearances over 27 games.

To make room for Stubbs on their 25-man roster, the Rangers optioned LHP Alex Claudio to Triple-A Round Rock. To make room for Stubbs on theur 40-man roster, however, the Rangers transfered OF Josh Hamilton to the 60-day disabled list.
