Rockies-Nationals series opener postponed

(TSX / STATS) -- Friday night's game between the Colorado Rockies and Washington Nationals at Nationals Park in Washington has been postponed due to rain.

Colorado (58-45) and Washington (61-39) were scheduled to open a three-game weekend series. The game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader Sunday, with games being played at 1:35 and 7:05 p.m. ET.

Nationals right-hander Tanner Roark (8-6, 4.83 ERA) was slated to face Rockies righty German Marquez (8-4, 4.20 ERA).

Washington announced its rotation will stay on turn, with Roark pitching in Saturday's game.

The Nationals enter the series having won four of their last five games and sitting atop the National League East standings. Meanwhile, the Rockies have dropped three straight and are third in the NL West, but currently have a 4 1/2-game lead for the second NL wild-card spot.
