YANKEES DOING QUITE WELL THIS SPRING

On Monday, the Yankees beat the Nationals, 9-3, at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. DH Matt Holliday (1-for-3) connected on his third HR, a two-run shot in the fifth. 1B Greg Bird (2-for-3, 1R, 1 double) has six multi-hit games this spring. SS Gleyber Torres (1-for-1) hit a two-run double in the eighth. CF Brett Gardner (1-for-4, 2RBI) stole his first base of the spring. RF Billy McKinney (2-for-2) added a pair of singles and is hitting .450 (9-for-20) this spring. RHP Michael Pineda started and earned the win, allowing 3ER in 1.2IP (1H, 2BB, 1K, 46pit./27stk.). The Yankees bullpen tossed 7.1 scoreless innings, including 3.1IP by RHP Chad Green (2H, 1BB, 2K, 47pit./27stk.). RHP Jonathan Holder retired all 6BF in 2.0IP.

ATHLETICS, MARINERS FACE OFF IN PEORIA
