Colón to replace Bumgarner on National League All-Star roster

National League All-Star manager Terry Collins of the New York Mets announced today his selection of Mets pitcher Bartolo Colón to the NL All-Star roster as a replacement for San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner, who is scheduled to start for the Giants on Sunday.

The 43-year-old Colón is 7-4 on the season with a 3.28 ERA over 18 games, including 17 starts. The three-time American League All-Star (1998, 2005, 2013) has permitted 36 earned runs on 103 hits with 17 walks and 65 strikeouts in 98.2 innings pitched. 

Bumgarner, who was named to his fourth All-Star team, is 9-4 on the season with a 2.04 ERA. In 120.2 innings pitched, he has allowed 28 earned runs on 92 hits with 31 walks and 132 strikeouts. The Giants left-hander is invited to San Diego with full All-Star honors.
