CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Indians on Friday sent INF/OF Michael Martinez to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations.
Martinez was designated for assignment by Cleveland on Saturday after hitting .283 with three doubles and one home run in 32 games for the team this season.
The versatile 33-year-old is a .199 career hitter with the Phillies (2011-13), Pirates (2014) and Indians (2015-16).
