"The Line Drive" Staff Report

The New York Mets on Tuesday selected the contract of SS Jose Reyes from the Double-A Brooklyn Cyclones.

Reyes played 11 games with Class A Brooklyn and Double-A Binghamton, nine of those games at third base. He was 6-for-34 (.176) with a double and two RBIs.

Reyes, 33, spent the first nine years of his career with the Mets from 2003-11, batting .292/.341/.441 with 81 homers in 1,050 games and earning four All-Star nods. He still owns the franchise record for triples and stolen bases.
