Royals DH Kendrys Morales named AL Player of the Week

Kansas City Royals DH Kendrys Morales on Tuesday was named the AL Player of the Week for the period ending July 3rd.

Morales batted .577 (15-for-26) with six runs scored, three doubles, four home runs and 10 RBI over six games to claim his third career AL Player of the Week Award, last winning with the Los Angeles Angels on April 25, 2010. Kendrys paced the Majors in batting average, hits and total bases (30). Among AL leaders, the 10-year-veteran finished the period first in extra-base hits (7), tied for first in home runs and on-base percentage (.607), and tied for second in RBIs.

The switch-hitting designated hitter logged 16 hits over six games from June 25th-30th, becoming just the second Royals player in club history to do so.
