Nationals SS Danny Espinosa named NL Player of the Week

Washington Nationals SS Danny Espinosa on Tuesday was named National League Player of the Week for the week ending July 3rd.

In seven games last week, Espinosa led the MLB with 17 RBI and was tied for the Major League lead with five home runs. The 29-year-old also led the NL in slugging at 1.077 and ranked among League leaders with 28 total bases (Tie for 1st), eight runs scored (Tie for 2nd), 11 hits (Tie for 2nd), a .423 batting average (7th) and a .516 on-base percentage (7th).

The California native capped his week with a two-homer, six-RBI effort in a 12-1 victory over Cincinnati on Sunday. The performance bookended a four-game series that he began with a career-best seven-RBI, two-home run performance in a 13-4 victory for the Nats in Thursday night's opener.
