Mariners recall David Rollins, place Ketel Marte on DL

The Seattle Mariners on Saturday recalled LHP David Rollins from AAA Tacoma, and placed INF Ketel Marte on 15-day disabled list with mononucleosis (retroactive to July 20), Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced.

Rollins (#59) will be in uniform and available for Saturday's (10:07am PT) game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Rollins, 26, is 1-0 with a 4.05 ERA (3 ER, 6.2 IP) with 5 strikeouts and 6 walks in 8 relief appearances over three stints with the Mariners this season. Rollins earned his first career Major League win on Monday (July 18) vs. Chicago-AL. Rollins is 2-0 with a 2.05 ERA (7 ER, 30.2 IP) with 26 strikeouts and 1 walk in 24 games with Tacoma this season, all in relief. In parts of 2 Major League seasons with Seattle, Rollins is 1-2 with a 6.82 ERA (24 ER, 31.2 IP) with 26 strikeouts and 14 walks in 28 career games.

Marte, 22, has not played since July 17th. In 74 games with Seattle this season, he was hitting .273 (77x282) with 36 runs, 17 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run and 19 RBI. This is his second stint on the 15-day disabled list this season; Missed time (May 22-June 6) after leaving game on May 21 at Cincinnati in the 5th inning with a sprained left thumb.
