BOSTON (AP) — R.A. Dickey took a no-hit bid into the sixth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays stopped Xander Bogaerts' 26-game hitting streak and the Boston Red Sox, 5-2 Friday night.
Bogaerts went 0 for 3 and walked twice, with the Fenway Park crowd booing when he didn't see a strike in the eighth inning. Bogaerts came up again with two runners on base and two outs in the ninth and, after taking three straight balls to begin the at-bat, struck out against Roberto Osuna to end it.
Boston tied its longest losing streak of the season with its third consecutive defeat. The Red Sox have lost six of their last nine games.
One start after no-hitting the Red Sox for 5 1/3 innings, Dickey (3-6) didn't give up a hit until David Ortiz opened the sixth with a double. Osuna got his 13th save.
Edwin Encarnacion hit a two-run homer off David Price (7-2) in the first inning.
DODGERS 4, BRAVES 2
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Corey Seager hit three solo homers, the second driving in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves.
It was the second multi-homer game of Seager's career, with the young shortstop blasting two against the Cardinals on May 15. He became the first Dodgers rookie with three homers in a game since Don Demeter on April 21, 1959, against the Giants at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
Kenta Maeda (5-3) allowed two runs — one earned — and six hits in 6 1/3 innings. Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth for his 16th save.
Julio Teheran (1-6) took the loss.
REDS 7, NATIONALS 2
CINCINNATI (AP) — Eugenio Suarez got his third homer in two games with the help of a replay overturn, and the Cincinnati Reds spoiled manager Dusty Baker's homecoming by overpowering the Washington Nationals.
The Reds matched their season high with their third straight win — only the third time they've put together that long of a streak. Zack Cozart and Adam Duvall hit solo shots for Cincinnati.
Suarez's RBI single started Cincinnati's four-run second inning off left-hander Gio Gonzalez (3-4), who has lost his last three starts. Brandon Finnegan (2-4) gave up five hits, including Jayson Werth's solo homer, in 6 1/3 innings.
RANGERS 7, MARINERS 3
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Adrian Beltre homered, doubled and drove in five runs, leading Yu Darvish and the Texas Rangers over the Seattle Mariners in a matchup of AL West leaders.
Texas and Seattle, who play six times in 10 days, went into the game tied for the division lead. The Rangers have won five of six overall.
Beltre hit a three-run homer in the first inning and a two-run double in the third.
Darvish (2-0) gave up three runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings, striking out five and walking one while throwing 88 pitches. Last week, the All-Star ace made his first start since August 2014 and Tommy John surgery, allowing one run and three hits over five innings to beat Pittsburgh.
Taijuan Walker (2-6) allowed six runs and nine hits, including a homer by Jurickson Profar, in five innings.
CUBS 6, DIAMONDBACKS 0
CHICAGO (AP) — John Lackey struck out nine while pitching into the seventh inning and the Chicago Cubs pulled away late to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks for their ninth win in 10 games.
Lackey (6-2) combined with three relievers on Chicago's sixth shutout, scattering five hits over 6 2/3 innings.
Anthony Rizzo drove in the game's first run with a two-out double in the sixth off Archie Bradley (2-1) that center fielder Chris Owings misjudged. The Cubs then scored five times with two outs in the eighth. Addison Russell and Javier Baez each hit two-run doubles against Silvino Bracho.
Chicago improved to 7-1 on its 10-game homestand and 38-15 overall, the best record in the majors. The Diamondbacks lost for the eighth time in 11 games.
METS 6, MARLINS 2
MIAMI (AP) — Noah Syndergaard gave up a homer to Marcell Ozuna on a 100-mph fastball, but struck out nine in seven innings to help the New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins.
Syndergaard (6-2) allowed two runs, which increased his ERA to 1.91, third-best in the majors. James Loney, acquired last week in a trade with San Diego, broke a 2-all tie in the seventh with a two-run homer, one of three for the Mets.
Ozuna pulled a Syndergaard fastball for his 11th homer in the second inning and drove in both of Miami's runs. Asdrubal Cabrera hit his fifth homer for New York, and backup catcher Rene Rivera hit his second.
Tom Koehler (3-6) took the loss for the Marlins.
INDIANS 6, ROYALS 1
CLEVELAND (AP) — Danny Salazar allowed one run and struck out nine in eight innings, and the Cleveland Indians defeated the Kansas City Royals.
Yan Gomes homered in the second and Tyler Naquin hit his first major league home run in the seventh for the Indians. Salazar (6-3) held Kansas City to three hits and was in command, other than giving up Drew Butera's leadoff homer in the third.
The Indians have won four of five over the defending World Series champions and trail the AL Central-leading Royals by a half-game. Francisco Lindor's RBI single in the third off Edinson Volquez (5-5) broke a 1-all tie and sparked a three-run rally.
ORIOLES 6, YANKEES 5
BALTIMORE (AP) — Chris Davis homered, Hyun Soo Kim and Mark Trumbo had three hits apiece and the Baltimore Orioles rallied to beat the New York Yankees.
After the Yankees used three home runs to build a 5-2 lead, Baltimore turned it around against Nathan Eovaldi and the New York bullpen. The Orioles scored three runs in the sixth inning to pull even, then used two singles and a run-scoring groundout by Manny Machado to go ahead in the seventh.
Mychal Givens (5-0) pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief and Zach Britton worked the ninth for his 16th save.
Carlos Beltran, Alex Rodriguez and Austin Romine homered for the Yankees, who have lost seven of 10. Dellin Betances (2-3) took the loss in relief.
ANGELS 9, PIRATES 2
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Jered Weaver allowed two runs over six innings and Kole Calhoun homered to lead the Los Angeles Angels over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Weaver (5-4) allowed six hits, struck out five and walked one, giving up consecutive homers to Starling Marte and Jung Ho Kang leading off the second. Weaver had been 1-4 with a 6.43 ERA in his previous six starts.
Kole Calhoun, Johnny Giavotella, Yunel Escobar, Mike Trout, Carlos Perez and Shane Robinson each had two of the Angels' 14 hits. Los Angeles scored in each of the first four innings.
Francisco Liriano (4-5) gave up seven runs — six earned — 10 hits and four walks in 3 1/3 innings. He has lost four times in five starts, walking 19 in that span.
PHILLIES 6, BREWERS 3
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Cameron Rupp homered and doubled and Andres Blanco also went deep to help the Philadelphia Phillies snap their season-worst seven-game losing streak with a victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Andrew Bailey (3-0) pitched 1 2/3 hitless innings of relief to earn the victory and help Philadelphia end an eight-game skid to the Brewers at home that spanned three seasons. Jeanmar Gomez pitched a scoreless ninth for his 18th save in 19 chances
Jonathan Villar homered for the second straight night for Milwaukee, which lost for just the fourth time in 11 games. The Brewers had won four in a row on the road.
Milwaukee's Jimmy Nelson (5-4) had his shortest outing of the season, allowing six runs on seven hits in four innings.
TIGERS 10, WHITE SOX 3
DETROIT (AP) — James McCann had three hits, including a triple and a homer, and the Detroit Tigers went on to beat the Chicago White Sox.
The Tigers, who won for the second time in seven games, lost Miguel Cabrera in the seventh inning to lower-back tightness. The team listed him as day-to-day.
Jordan Zimmermann (8-2), who hadn't pitched in 12 days due to a groin strain, lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and five hits. He walked two and struck out three.
Carlos Rodon (2-5) allowed four runs, seven hits and three walks in six innings.
ASTROS 12, ATHLETICS 2
HOUSTON (AP) — Evan Gattis tied a career high with four hits, including a homer, and had four RBIs on Friday night as the Houston Astros jumped on Oakland starter Jesse Hahn for seven runs in the first inning and cruised past the Athletics.
The Astros were up 2-0 with two outs in the first when Tyler White drove in a run with a single. The inning looked to be over after that, but a fly ball hit by Tony Kemp to the warning track in right field bounced in and out of the glove of Chris Coghlan for a two-run triple. Jake Marisnick's RBI single made it 6-0 and Hahn (2-3) was chased when George Springer, the 10th batter of the inning, drove home another run with a single.
Houston starter Doug Fister (5-3) yielded four hits and struck out three in six scoreless innings for his fourth straight win.
GIANTS 5, CARDINALS 1
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Johnny Cueto worked around a season-worst five walks to post his ninth win, tying for the major league lead, as the San Francisco Giants beat the St. Louis Cardinals.
Cueto (9-1) allowed a run on four hits in six innings with one strikeout. He hadn't walked more than two in any of his first 11 starts for his new team. Cueto is among four nine-game winners, joining Stephen Strasburg, Jake Arrieta and Chris Sale. Six of Cueto's victories have come on the road.
Adam Wainwright (5-4) allowed two runs in seven innings. The Cardinals were held to one run for the second straight game.
RAYS 4, TWINS 2
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Brad Miller hit a tiebreaking single in the eighth inning, and the Tampa Bay Rays ended a five-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Twins.
Evan Longoria hit his second homer in as many games for the Rays, who won for just the third time in 14 games. Logan Morrison also homered.
Erasmo Ramirez (7-4) and Xavier Cedeno combined for 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for Tampa Bay, and Alex Colome got five outs for his 13th save in as many tries.
Ricky Nolasco (2-4) allowed three runs — two earned — while throwing a season-high 7 2/3 innings for the Twins.
PADRES 4, ROCKIES 0
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Matt Kemp hit a three-run homer estimated at 458 feet, matching the longest at Petco Park, and Drew Pomeranz pitched seven innings of two-hit ball as the San Diego Padres bounced back from Thursday night's meltdown to beat the Colorado Rockies.
The Padres won a night after a bullpen meltdown so big that manager Andy Green called it "borderline inexplicable." The Padres blew a 12-2 lead to the Seattle Mariners, who scored 14 times in two innings to win 16-13. It was the biggest comeback in Mariners history and the biggest collapse in Padres history.
Pomeranz (5-5) shut down the Rockies through seven, striking out eight and walking two.
Melvin Upton Jr. scored on a straight steal of home in the fourth.
Chris Rusin (1-4) took the loss.
