BALTIMORE - New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday with a right knee articular cartilage tear.
In corresponding moves, the Yankees called up INF Chris Parmelee from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and transferred Dustin Ackley, who is out for the season with a shoulder injury, to the 60-day DL.
Parmelee posted a .252 average with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre during 151 at-bats this season.
Teixeira left Friday's 6-5 loss to the Orioles in the third inning with discomfort in his right knee.
