Blue Jays resign RHP Roberto Hernandez to minor-league deal

"The Line Drive" Staff Report

The Toronto Blue Jays resigned RHP Roberto Hernandez to a minor-league contract on Wednesday.

Hernandez this past spring opted out of a minor-league contracg, but it appears that he has one now.

Over 20 appearances (eleven starts) with the Astros last season, Hernandez posted a 3-5 record, along with a 4.36 ERA, in 84 and 2/3 innings pitched. He owns a career 70-98 record, along with a 4.58 ERA, in 1349 and 1/3 innings pitched over 268 games (217 starts), which includes a 19-8 record and a 3.06 ERA during the 2007 campaign with the Indians, but he has only reached eight wins in a season three times since then (8 in 2005, 13 in 2010, 8 in 2014).

The Blue Jays also recalled RHP Ryan Tepera from Triple-A Buffalo and also optioned L/RHP Pat Venditte to Buffalo.
