Cubs place C Miguel Montero on 15-Day DL

The Chicago Cubs placed catcher Miguel Montero on the 15-Day disabled list on Wednesday retroactive to Monday with what reports say is a back issue.

Reports say that the Cubs plan to recall catcher Tim Federowicz from Triple-A Iowa.

In 11 games for Iowa this season, Federowicz has 10 hits, two doubles and one home run in 33 at bats. He also has six RBIs and a .303 batting average this season. The Cubs signed Federowicz to a Minor-League contract on January 15, 2016. He was drafted in the seventh round by the Boston Red Sox in the 2008 MLB Draft.

Montero has ten hits, three doubles, one home run, six RBIs and a batting average of .208 in 48 at bats in 13 games with the Cubs this season.
