Mets look to defeat Royals in World Series rematch

The New York Mets have something to prove on Sunday.

The team will head to Kauffman Stadium to face the team that defeated them in the 2015 World Series, the Kansas City Royals in the Mets and Royals' first games of the 2016 season.

This will be the first time in MLB history that an opening day game has involved the two teams that were in the World Series the season before.

''It's impossible to simulate World Series atmospheres,'' Mets third baseman David Wright said, ''but with them getting their rings and raising the banner and things like that, I think it would give a little bit of motivation. But I also think they deserved it. They outplayed us during the World Series, no question."

The Mets have something to prove in this first game and first series against the Royals. Defeating Kansas City would for sure give the Mets some monemtum, and would give the Royals some momentum if they happen to do well in this series as well.
