Angels' deal with Lincecum finalized

Statement from the Angels website.

The Angels on Friday completed their deal with right-hander Tim Lincecum that, according to a source, will pay him a base salary of about $2 million for the rest of the season and reportedly includes up to $1.7 million in incentives.

The Angels, in desperate need of pitching depth due to injuries, reportedly had been close to a deal with Lincecum since early this week. Another source said that Lincecum will first go to the Minor Leagues before being added to the Angels' roster.

Lincecum, 31, is coming off hip surgery and held a showcase for interested teams in Scottsdale, Ariz., on May 6. The four-time All-Star won back-to-back National League Cy Young Awards for the Giants from 2008-09, but has posted a 4.68 ERA in more than 600 innings since '12, while dealing with declining velocity and physical issues.

Still, the Angels' rotation could use reinforcements. Starters Garrett Richards andAndrew Heaney are out with torn elbow ligaments, Tyler Skaggs hit a snag in his comeback from Tommy John surgery, and C.J. Wilson is likely out until mid-June with a shoulder problem.
