BOSTON - The Boston Red Sox on Saturday activate RHP Joe Kelly from 15-day disabled list to make the start tonight against the Cleveland Indians.
Kelly was 1-0 with a 9.35 ERA in three starts for the Red Sox this season. He made three rehab starts for Pawtucket and went 1-0 with a 1.26 ERA, incluing a 10-strikeout performance in 6 1/3 scoreless innings earlier this week.
As a corresponding move, the Red Sox optioned RHP Noe Ramirez to the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox.
Ramirez has 5.79 ERA in nine relief appearances this season for Boston. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 20 with a right shoulder impingement.
